The 2023 Bull of Clarence 1oz platinum coin is the third release in the Royal Tudor Beasts Collection from The Royal Mint. Like the Queen’s Beasts series, the collection will feature 10 ‘Beasts’, this time consisting of statues that line the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court.
Designed by David Lawrence, the reverse side of the coin showcases the Bull of Clarence against a textured background resembling chain mail. This design is not only for visual appeal but also enhances security features as a protection against counterfeiting. The obverse side of the coin presents the official coinage portrait of His Majesty The King by Martin Jennings for the first time in the series.
The 2023 Bull of Clarence coin contains exactly 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) of pure 999.5 platinum. As with other coins from The Royal Mint, it is considered legal tender with a value of £100, it is therefore exempt from Capital Gains Tax. The coin will be in production for a few months until the next coin in the series is released, so collectors should purchase as soon as possible if they wish to get all coins in the series.
